Ko Wai Maaua | About Us

.
Georgina MANuel + Lisa AWAtere
MAN+AWA = MANAWA
.
The word Manawa in te reo Māori, the indigenous language of Aotearoa New Zealand, translates to mean heart of either a person or seat of affections, patience, tolerance, breath.
.
At the heart of this business, is the desire to offer wahine taketake (indigenous women) beautiful, quality items that showcase our indigenous heritage.
Manawa - is a pakihi Māori (Māori business) made up of two halves of one heart.
.
The first half of MANAWA is Georgina (aka George, G, Horhey) who brings her immense knowledge in retail and business management, recruitment and all-round amazingness to get the wheels in this pakihi moving and crunches the numbers to keep us on track.
.
The second half of MANAWA is Lisa (aka Leese, Boss, Tex) who brings some creative ideas to the table and comes with a whole lot of drive and determination to get the little jobs done.
.
Together, we are able to draw on each other's strengths and form an exciting pakihi to offer you meaningful items that acknowledge our heritage.
